Town Centre Update

29 Sep 2021

Riverwalk Town Centre

We are delighted to announce that we are now progressing to the next stage in the delivery of the Riverwalk Town Centre.

Development Victoria has recently engaged Colliers International to manage the Town Centre sales process, and the successful bidder will be announced to the community once the process has been completed.

The Town Centre Vision

The Town Centre has been an important element of the vision for Riverwalk since the very beginning of this project, with the land originally rezoned in 2009, and Council’s approval of the Riverwalk Development Plan in 2010.

The approved Development Plan specified which areas of the site would be used for the future Town Centre, also identified which of these areas would be developed as commercial/retail land, or as residential land.

A common feature of residential town centres is the inclusion of a mix of commercial and residential land, where higher density homes act as a buffer between the retail component, and homes across the rest of the development.

This has always been the intention for the Riverwalk Town Centre, with commercial and retail land at the centre of the site, and a mix of townhouses bordering the site. The commercial zoned land is anticipated to include a supermarket, along with a range of other specialty retail shops and services.

Our priority is to deliver a Town Centre which complements the existing Riverwalk community, and this will be a key consideration in the appointment of a developer.

The next edition of the Riverwalk newsletter will soon be available and can be accessed here. This newsletter will provide further information on our progress and other community updates.

In the spirit of reconciliation, Development Victoria respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land on which Riverwalk is being built and developed. We recognise their continuing cultural heritage and connection to land. We pay our respects to their Elders past and present.
